BIO:
Xombie was born in June of 2009 on a Manhattan terrace over tequila shots from a chance encounter between Roy Galvan (guitar/vocals) and Adam Cruz (vocals). The two knew immediately that they had something special and immediately started collaborating on a clever, funk-rock-hip-hop-metal hybrid style. Shortly after, Roy asked the drummer from his former band, Rob “Bangers” Patierno, to play with them, and the trio embarked on the hunt for a bassist. In the Spring of 2010, they came across an ad on Craigslist for a heavy guitarist looking to collaborate with rappers. Rob “Fish” Fishkin (guitar/vocals) had been blown away after seeing Jay-Z perform in Atlantic City and wanted to try something new. Although Xombie wasn’t looking for a second guitarist, after jamming with Roy and the rest of the band, there was no question in anyone’s mind that he was a perfect fit. Shortly after Fish joined the band, Bangers invited his childhood friend “Cadillac” Mike Martabano to audition to play bass and found that he perfectly filled the void.
Xombie counts Rage Against the Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Metallica, System of a Down, Linkin Park and Jay-Z among their influences. Collectively, the members of the band bring almost 50 years of music experience to the table; as Bangers says, “My whole life has been dedicated to playing and making music. Music is all I know.” Their first album, the eponymously titled “Xombie” was self-released in 2010. In 2011, the band released their second album, “Swaggaholix”. Both albums were recorded at Nada Studios in New Windsor, NY and produced and engineered by John Naclario and Eric Castillo (My Chemical Romance, The Ataris).
