GOSTEFFECTS
Gosteffects appears in a carefully sculpted minimalistic approach to an all black, angular meets organic, ghost-like visual aesthetic, coupled with futurist religious surrealism. "I was raised in a Roman Catholic household in a small middle America town of only 230 people," Gosteffects affirms. "My Italian grandmother had studied to become a nun before she decided she wanted to get married and have a family. I spent many Sundays at a small church listening to her play the organ. It was a musical and visual impression that has lasted with me throughout all these years."
Gosteffects further remarks, "I feel like a lot of people probably feel like they are a ghost in this world. Wandering as if in a state of purgatory, not truly knowing where you came from, or where you are going, seeking out your own answers, all the while knowing there aren't any, and simply waiting for a light to shine down and reveal the way."
Countless late nights spent in the underground New York club scene, Gosteffects draws inspiration from the city's dense spirit and vigor. "When you are living in the middle of an island with millions of people surrounding you, you can't help but feel you’re a part of a living, breathing thing. You get this feeling that you are a single cell of an organism. There's so much happening around you at any given time, you can't help but be inspired."
Gosteffects explains the subjective environment through which his work is processed, "The messages and impact I'm attempting to create through this body of work is not necessarily seen in the audible or lyrical context of the work. When people hear this music I would love them to be able to enjoy the moment they are in, and the people that surround them. Life is fleeting. These nights out having a fun with your friends and enjoying music together is a special thing. These moments don't last forever. These songs are here to serve as a collection of hymns to haunt slowly fading memories, for when your best days are behind you, and a quick look back is all that you have left."
