BIO:
Born and raised in San Francisco, Daisy McCrackin moved to Los
Angeles to further her career as an actress. While appearing in
films such as 3000 Miles to Graceland with Kevin Costner and co-starring in
Holloween alongside Jamie Lee Curtis, Daisy found herself stretching
her artistic horizons with music, playing guitar and writing music
between acting gigs.
It was during her two years living in the Topanga Canyon artist
colony The Rodeo Grounds that she redefined her artistic identity as a
singer /songwriter in the folk rock tradition.
Daisy recorded thirteen live, acoustic songs for filmmaker Stefanie
Schneider’s feature film, “29 Palms.” The soundtrack, “Til Death Do
Us Part,” marks Daisy’s first musical release, and is available on CD
and as a collector’s piece in vinyl in Germany. Daisy also stars in
the film.
In 2009 Daisy paired up with renowned musician/producer Alain Johannes
(Eleven and Them Crooked Vultures) to record her first studio album.
Creating an EP of six original songs written called “Th Rodeo
Grounds” An homage to the Topanga Canyon artist community that
inspired her to stretch her wings. “The Rodeo Grounds” is a sampling
of poems and stories about living magic, love and broken hearts.
Upon hearing the first single “Tell Her”, legendary Grateful Dead
songwriter and poet John Perry Barlow called it “a very tight little
novel,” noting that her “phrasing and delivery are perfect,” and
acknowledging Daisy as “the real deal.”
In 2010 Daisy formed a band with Mike McGill (VHS or Beta, Lyra, Indians)
and Sal Romano (Lyra) to play live in Los Angeles and record her first full
length album "God Willing" .
Having honed her skills as an accomplished singer songwriter inside of
the true "real deal" folk sound, God Willing proves that Daisy
McCrackin is "one of the most promising singer-songwriters of today".
God willing explores the balance between elegant simplicity and
artistic depth with each song crafted inside of the album's mystical dark fairytale theme.
Filled with honesty and haunting beauty, Daisy tackles unusual
subjects in a deceptively simple lyrical format that effortlessly
draws the listener’s attention.
Drawing comparisons to a range of legends such as Joni Mitchel,
Suzzane Vega, Nancy Sinatra and Ricky Lee Jones, Daisy McCrackin is a
true artist with a unique sound and original songs who appeals to
audiences who appreciate folk music, female vocalists and fresh,
modern music.

"In 2010 Daisy formed a band with Mike McGill (VHS or Beta, Lyra, Indians) and Sal Romano (Lyra) to play live in Los Angeles and record her first full length album "God Willing."
Mike McGill says:
The approach to this record was simple, aim to color the already beautiful landscapes with just enough while leaving space to highlight the vocal. When I first heard Daisy's music, a flood of ideas washed over me. So many ideas that i had to break them all down in my head and simplify. I didn't want to detract from what was already there by covering this beautiful landscape in too many colors, but I didn't want it to be too little either. I am proud of what we painted with only a few short days in studio.
Daisy McCrackin says:
"You might think I chose these songs to record over others based on lyrical content, since it has a bit of a theme, but actually I paired them together and chose one song over another strictly according to melody and tone, and the rest fell in to place by magic. "
"Various lyrical references to myths and fairytales set her songs against hazy dreamscapes where clicking one’s heels becomes an act of faith, and the moon, an enigmatic temptress. The single ‘I Think I’m a Ghost’ is quietly haunting and tugs surreptitiously at one’s heartstrings. However, the standout tracks for me are ‘Ladykiller’s Wife’ and ‘The Moon’, which are quite unlike anything I’ve heard from the recent slate of new artists."
